We are happy you have stopped by our website and hope that you will visit us in person and participate in our worship services and Bible studies.
We enjoy having visitors and would certainly like to meet you.

Who We Are

We are an energetic fellowship of Christians whose mission is to glorify God by sharing the good news of Christ and edifying the surrounding community. Our spiritual family, established in Joliet, IL, in 1960, is a group of about 100 people dedicated to serving the Lord, one another, and the world in His name. If you are looking for a church to call home, or are simply visiting the area, we would be honored if you joined us for worship.

What We Believe

We believe in an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent God who revealed Himself through the Holy Scriptures. God’s truth is expressed through the Bible, which teaches that anyone who comes to Him by faith will enjoy salvation. This salvation was made available through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and his resurrection from the dead.
We believe salvation comes not from the work of man, but through the grace of God. It is because of this that baptism is such a critical part of Christian conversion and transformation. Through baptism by immersion, one receives the permanent dwelling of the Holy Spirit, which helps us start the process of clothing ourselves with Christ.

Healthy Worship

Healthy worship includes, but is not limited to, three points.

Worship is about the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is not about us. Worship is not the time to seek faults in others or focus on flaws in ourselves.

We are able to draw strength from our worship service to go and make disciples of all nations (per Jesus’ commission to us in Matthew 28:19). We value who we worship, and we use these values to bring others to Christ through our words, deeds, and thoughts.

God allows us to set the worship parameters through the boundaries of Scripture. There is freedom in true biblical worship. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).

Rockford Christian Camp

“Our God is an awesome God, and Rockford Christian Camp exists to glorify Him. God shelters us under beautiful trees and whispers to us in the soft winds of summer. At RCC, His word is lifted up, and Jesus is worshiped as the centerpiece of everything in heaven and on earth. His love binds us together and gives grace and harmony to our relationships with one another.”

Christian Chronicle

“The Christian Chronicle® is published and governed by The Christian Chronicle Inc., an Oklahoma nonprofit corporation, with offices on the campus of and support from Oklahoma Christian University. Founded in 1943, The Christian Chronicle is a newspaper committed to the highest standards of journalistic excellence and seeks to inform, inspire and unite Churches of Christ worldwide.”

Gospel Advocate

“Gospel Advocate Company was founded in July 1855 by Tolbert Fanning and William Lipscomb. They dedicated their efforts to support the doctrine of salvation through the gospel of the grace of God. This remains our mission today.”

Gospel Minutes

“People have very little time to read, thus the title Gospel Minutes. All of the articles except a couple can be read in a couple of minutes. So you will not read a complete explanation, but hopefully enough to help you study further. This site does not deal with much milk. It is expected that you are already familiar with the basics.”

Chicago Area Churches of Christ

“The Chicago Area Churches of Christ site provides links to the Churches of Christ in the Chicagoland area, along with Metro and Regional maps.”

Shults-Lewis Child and Family Services

“Shults-Lewis Child and Family Services is a dynamic treatment program for struggling teens and their families. At Shults-Lewis, we believe that families shouldn’t have to struggle alone and our residential environment, staffed by Christian houseparents and counselors, offers counseling, love, acceptance and, most of all, hope to teens and their families.”
